Adding image to Signature: ThunderBird

Posted on 11:00 by Unknown

                    What do you have that crisp scalable logo for? If the logo helps people recognize what comes from your organization, why not use it in your emails? — In a classy manner, of course, say in the signature.

Of course, not only logos can appear in your Mozilla Thunderbird signature. You can put your photo or maybe a funny animation in it, too, or just some decorative elements.Whatever the purpose, whatever the image: adding a graphic to your signature is easy in Mozilla Thunderbird.In this article you are going to find out how to do this.

 Steps add an Image to Your Mozilla Thunderbird Signature

To insert an image into your signature in Mozilla Thunderbird:

    * Start with a new, empty message using HTML formatting.

    * In the message's body, create your signature the way you want it to look.

    * Insert the image.
          o Go to the image insertion dialog's Link tab to link your image to a web page.

    * Select "File" | "Save As" | "File"... from the message's menu.

    * Make sure HTML Files is selected under Format:.

    * Enter "signature.html" (or something similar) under Save As:.

    * Click "Save".

    * Close the message window, not saving the draft.

    * Select "Tools" | "Account Settings"... from the Mozilla Thunderbird menu.

    * For all desired accounts:
          o Go to the account's root item.
          o Make sure "Attach this signature": is checked.
          o Click Choose....
          o Find and highlight the "signature.html" file just created.
          o Click "Open".

    * Click "OK".
These steps can be followed for Mozilla ThunderBird installed in Windows XP or Windows 7.

Quick way to add Cc and Bcc contacts

Posted on 05:30 by Unknown

            Is it easy to type email addresses? Is it easy to remember email addresses?

Fortunately, Mozilla Thunderbird remembers them, and when you start typing a name (or address), it is completed automatically. Still not ideal for adding 20 recipients to an email you forward — and you don't want to set up a group?

Mozilla Thunderbird has a trick up its toolbar for this situation, too: the Contacts sidebar. And if you're missing an Add to Bcc: button, turn to the context menu. This exactly what we are going to learn in this article that is Adding To, Cc and Bcc Recipients Easily in Mozilla Thunderbird

Steps to add recipients quickly in Mozilla Thunderbird:

    * Click "Contacts"  from message's toolbar
in Mozilla ThunderBird.

    * Optionally, select the desired "address book" or use search to locate the desired recipients.
          o Note you can only search one address book at a time.

    * Highlight all "people" you want to add.

    * To add them to the To: field:
          o Click the "Add to To:" button.

    * To add them to the Cc: field:
          o Click the "Add to Cc:" button.

    * To add them to the Bcc: field:
          o Click on one of the "recipients" with the "right mouse button".
          o Select "Add to Bcc field" from the menu

These steps can be followed for Mozilla ThunderBird installed in Windows XP and Windows 7.

How to Sync Email Clients on Two Computers

Posted on 11:00 by Unknown

Keeping email accounts synced on multiple computers is a common problem for people who don't use Web based email like Gmail or Hotmail. If you have one computer at home and another at the office, you may not be able to access the same emails and email history on both. Many people now have laptops for traveling and desktops for home use, which presents more or less the same challenge. Fortunately, the solutions to this problem are quite simple and generally don't cost anything. Whether you are using a third party software or converting to an online email client, syncing email clients on two computers is easy and worth the effort.

Instructions

  • Set one computer to download and delete emails from the server and the other to download only. All email clients these days allow you to do this. Just change your preferences to the appropriate setting on each computer. Note that this is not the best strategy because if you send an email from one computer it will not appear in the "Sent" folder in the other, nor will your contacts be added to both computers if they are added to one.

  • Consider using a third party software or service to address the issue. This is easier to do if you use the most common email clients like Outlook, Outlook Express or Thunderbird. BeInSynch (see Resources) is one such service that allows you to keep all kinds of data, including email, synced among two or more computers. Try Microsoft Exchange if you use Microsoft Outlook, or try the open source alternative Zimbra (see Resources) if you don't want to pay for the official Microsoft service.

  • Consider converting to the world of Web based email clients like Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, or Hotmail. All of these have different strengths and features, but the important thing is that you can access all of your email data (sent mail, incoming mail, contacts, etc.) from any computer with an Internet connection. This allows for maximum flexibility and makes your email data portable. You can even set a Web based client to receive mail from a different address so you don't have to change your email address but are still using the Web based client.

Sending attachements without split or Break

Posted on 13:00 by Unknown

                When you send an innocent email (with a few photos attached maybe) and, instead of "you look good next to that cactus", get back a furious note that complains about 67 strange messages containing just odd numbers and strange letters arranged in seemingly random order, you are rightly puzzled.

Often, the answer and the solution are simple. Windows Live Mail can split large files into smaller pieces, to be re-assembled at the receiving end. The function is a bit of a remnant from earlier Internet days , and of course the re-assembling never happens. The result are many small messages showing the attached files in an encoded form. The messages will also have "{file name} [2/45]" or something similar in the subject.

It is usually best to turn off this breaking apart of large messages. Don't worry about normal attachments, and if you need to send larger files — say, 60 MB or maybe a few hundred  MB's you can turn to a service designed for that purpose. Now in this article we are going to learn the same, that is how to send mail without split data. Exactly, make Sure Windows Live Mail does Not Break Emails into Tiny Pieces

To prevent Windows Live Mail from splitting emails into tiny pieces:

    * Select "Tools" | Accounts from the menu.

    * Highlight the desired account.
          o It is best, of course, to repeat the process for each account.

    * Click "Properties".

    * Go to the "Advanced" tab.

    * Make sure " Break apart messages larger than __ KB" is not checked.

    * Click "OK".

    * Now click "Close".

These steps can be followed for windows live mail installed in Windows XP and Windows 7.
